Grand Duke Wladimir, Head of the Russian Imperial House from 1938 to 1992, with Prince Henrik of Denmark

The Russian Legitimist expresses its sincere condolences to H.M. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and to the Danish Royal Family on the passing of the Queen’s consort, Prince Henrik of Denmark, on February 13, 2018.

Russians, whether living in the motherland or in the emigration, can evince nothing but the greatest respect for the Danish Royal House.  It was the Danish Royal House that gave refuge and protection to Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia during her last sad years of exile.  It was in Denmark where her funeral was held in 1928 and where her remains rested temporarily, until they could be buried in St. Petersburg next to her husband.  And it was in 2006, with the approval and assistance of Queen Margrethe II, that the remains of the Dowager Empress were returned to Russia for burial in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
