Visit of the Russian Imperial House to New York

The Head of the Russian Imperial House, Grand Duchess Maria of Russia visited New York this past week for a private visit.

The Grand Duchess had been asked by the prestigious Versailles Foundation to serve as the guest of honor for the foundation's annual dinner, which is held at a private club, and hosted by Mme. Barbara de Portago, the daughter of the late Florence van der Kemp, wife of Gerald van der Kemp, who was the Chief Curator and Director of the Chateau and Domaine of Versailles.

While in New York, the Grand Duchess and her son also attended liturgy at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the SIgn (ROCOR) on the feast day of St. George, the name day of H.I.H. The Heir0Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George Mikhailovich.  The Grand Duke George received the Order of St. Raphael of Brooklyn, First Class at the behest of the Hierarchs of the Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
