The Russian Imperial House Prays for the Victims of the Mass Shooting in Kerch.

The Head of the Imperial House of Russia, H.I.H. the Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, and her son and heir, H.I.H. the Grand Duke George of Russia, are shocked by the news of the mass shooting today at the Kerch Polytechnic College.

Their Imperial Highnesses pray for the repose of the souls of the victims of this brutal and senseless crime, and express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the dead. They also pray for the quick and full recovery of those who have been injured in this tragic attack.

The Russian Imperial House Issues Statements Regarding the New Series "The Romanoffs"

The Chancellery of the Russian Imperial House released today a Statement and a Clarification concerning the new Amazon Prime Series, “The Romanoffs.”

The series was developed, written, and produced by Matthew Weiner, an American, most famous for creating the internationally popular series “Mad Men.”

“The Romanoffs” is more like a series of loosely connected short films than a series. It is a collection of stories in which one or more of the characters believes that they are descended from the Russian Imperial Family.

Though the series is clearly fiction, the first two episodes have sparked controversy: the opening credits feature a gory recreation of the murder of the Imperial Family, who are now recognized as saints in the Russian Orthodox Church, and in the second episode, dwarf actors are used to portray the Imperial Martyrs in an humiliating sequence meant to be comical.

The Imperial house notes that it “does not wish to fan the flames of publicity,” but that it cannot stand by when such coarse and vulgar liberties are taken with the representation their relatives and ancestors.

The Head of the Imperial House of Russia comments on the recent declaration by Patriarch Bartholomew.

“I have never concealed the fact that I am a faithful daughter of the Russian Orthodox Church, that I trust its hierarchy, and, to the best of my ability, I work to preserve the canonical unity of the flock of the Moscow Patriarchate and the traditions that have developed in the Russian Orthodox community around the world.”

The Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, Head of the Russian Imperial House, has spoken on the recent statements by the Ecumenical Patriarch, during an interview released through Interfax.ru.

The Grand Duchess notes that she is deeply “saddened and alarmed” by recent events.

Imperial Foundation Relaunches with Expanded Mission and New Website!

The Russian Imperial Foundation was created by Grand Duke George of Russia in 2013 under the auspices of HIH Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna.  Originally called the "Imperial Cancer Foundation," the organization worked tirelessly and single-mindedly in Russia to help researchers and oncologists as they sought to help those who suffer from the disease which is Russia's number one killer.

On July 23, the Foundation was relaunched with an expanded mission.  The Imperial Foundation now aims to continue its work, but in partnership with the very best non-profit organizations in Russia and abroad, those providing the most effective and efficient assistance to the most needy and disadvantaged in all corners of the country. These charity partners already have a proven track record in working in the key areas of interest to the Imperial Foundation, including youth services, education, health and well-being, arts and culture, medical science (with a special focus on oncology), and assistance to the elderly.

The Foundation is planning a series of fundraising events in 2019 in London, New York, Monaco and Palm Beach to highlight the work of their charity partners in Russia. Later in 2019, HIH Grand Duke George will co-host in the first “Faith and Philanthropy” Summit in St. Petersburg, where non-profit organizations from Russia and the world will gather to discuss the impact of Philanthropy upon a range of critical issues, including health care, education, science, culture, and ways to support and provide opportunity for Russia’s young people.

As well as promoting the great cultural patrimony of Russia globally, the Foundation exists to build bridges between Russia and the rest of the world, exploring their shared goals, promoting dialogue and establishing partnerships.

The Russian Imperial House participates in the "Royal Days" at Ekaterinburg, July 17/18 2018.

H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna visits "Ganina Yama" the site of the first burial. place of the Romanov Martyrs.

One hundred years after the murder and martyrdom of the Russian Imperial Family, Tsar Nicholas II, his wife the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, their daughters the Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia, their son and heir Tsesarevich Alexei, and those who were murdered with them were commemorated at Ekaterinburg with the Head of the Russian Imperial House in attendance at the request of H.E. the Bishop of Ekaterinburg & Verkhotursk. 

Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna and her son and heir, the Tsesarevich Georgii Mikhailovich arrived via Tobolsk, as they had followed the route of the Imperial Family and those who perished with them.  The Grand Duchess and Grand Duke participated in the Holy Liturgy of Commemoration with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The Patriarch was joined by the Tsesarevich Grand Duke George and crowds of pilgrims on the 21 Km march to Ganina Yama, the first burial place of the Imperial Family.  Her Imperial Highness visited the site the following day.

Vast crowds up to a million ha been predicted by numerous sources, but the number of pilgrims and tourists visiting the city were reported at just over 100,000 and the presence at the memorial vigil and liturgy at the "Cathedral on the Blood" was officially estimated at 50,000, but independent sources confirmed it to be around 30-40,000.

GRAND DUCHESS MARIA VLADIMIROVNA AND GRAND DUKE GEORGE MIKHAILOVICH TO TAKE PART IN 'ROYAL DAYS' CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

The head of the Russian Imperial House of Romanov, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna will take part in the “Royal Days” memorial liturgy and other events in Ekaterinburg organized to observe solemnly the centenary of the July 17, 1918 murder of Tsar Nicholas II and his family and faithful servants. 

“We are expecting her arrival on July 16. She is coming by train at 10:00 in the morning. She is planning to take part in the Divine Liturgy. She will be present and pray at the night service. They are not planning to go on the procession, but the group of pilgrims will arrive to Ganina Yama Monastery on the 17th by bus,” reported Fr. Maxim Minyailo of the Church on the Blood in Ekaterinburg.

Visit of the Russian Imperial House to New York

The Head of the Russian Imperial House, Grand Duchess Maria of Russia visited New York this past week for a private visit.

The Grand Duchess had been asked by the prestigious Versailles Foundation to serve as the guest of honor for the foundation's annual dinner, which is held at a private club, and hosted by Mme. Barbara de Portago, the daughter of the late Florence van der Kemp, wife of Gerald van der Kemp, who was the Chief Curator and Director of the Chateau and Domaine of Versailles.

While in New York, the Grand Duchess and her son also attended liturgy at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the SIgn (ROCOR) on the feast day of St. George, the name day of H.I.H. The Heir0Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George Mikhailovich.  The Grand Duke George received the Order of St. Raphael of Brooklyn, First Class at the behest of the Hierarchs of the Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
